Project Name

School Bus service Project ' Sisu Sariya'.

Introduction

A formal ,secure, and reliable regular bus service named 'Sisu Sariya' is being implemented throughout the island using SLTB and private buses reserved for school children under concessionary basis covering roads and schools centering all cities in the island under the government sponsorship.

'Sisu Sariya' school bus project covers 3700 schools and 100,000 school students covering all province in the island.

Objective/Benefits

Endowing a righteous generation of children to the society by building a status that coming to the school on time and engaging in studies consciously due to the trustful service and enabling them reach homes securely.

Giving economic concession to those families by charging half fee from students. Saving foreign exchange through reducing fuel consumption by adopting a big bus instead of many small vehicles and minimizing heavy traffic congestion on roads and reducing environmental pollution.

Project Name

Bus service project for rural and nonprofitable routes 'Gami Sariya'.

Introduction

Transport Service is performing a role as a media that connects villages and cities under the 'Gami Sariya' project. Certain uneconomic routes are being identified by a certain procedure and this project involves giving provisions for service providing operators for uneconomic running distance.

Objective/Benefits

Development of infrastructure facilities in rural areas. Successfulness of children's educational activities. Ability to bring products from rural areas to the city and the ability to bring goods to the village, improving the economic status of those people, building health status, connecting the village and the city.

Project Name

Night bus service project - 'Nisi Sariya'

Introduction

'Nisi Sariya' project is being implemented to overcome the difficulties face by the commuters due to shortage of bus services in night time and early morning.

Objective/Benefits

The main objective of commencing the ' Nisi Sariya' project is to provide them public transport service by overcoming difficulties face by commuters due to shortage of bus service in night and early morning.

Project Name

Removing bus fare anomalies.

Introduction

Under this, recommendation of ordinary distance relevant to each stage of fare is done by the bus fare policy with the objective of charging fee relative to the distance travelled by the commuters and with the objective of estatablishment of stages bus fare under a predefined standard.

Registration and training of bus employees.

Introduction

A special training programme is being conducted under this to improve the service quality and disciplinary standards of drivers and conductors who serve in inter provincial buses.

Introduction

Surveys are being conducted with the intention of providing required data when formulating policies of the National Transport Commission, compiling plans and when taking timely decisions.

Formulation of National Transport Statistics report

Introduction

As the primary objective this project involves publishing a book containing statistical data required to identifying problems related to transport by institutes and authorities which involve in formulation of policies concerning in transport and preparing plans related to transport and to give solutions to those problems.

Preparing and revising of schedules

Introduction

Improving the quality of public bus transport service by providing a reliable,safe, and comfortable transport service to commuters and a project of preparing a combined rotate time table is being implemented providing similar opportunities to all bus operators.

Objectives/Benefits

The primary objective of this project is to save the business stability of bus operators through improving the quality of public transport service and preparing time tables providing equal opportunities to all bus operators enabling to provide reliable, safe, comfortable public transport service to commuters. Minimizing unfavorable competition among bus operators as well as maximizing the number of kilo meters per day in general is the main objective expected from this project.

Regulation of inter provincial private buses through GPS technology.

Introduction

This project involves regulation of inter provincial buses by joining GPS technology and other technologies as adopting Information and Communication Technology to public transport service for providing quality as well as safe public transport service based on solving challenges arisen in public transport service.
