Introduction/Role

The principle objective of the organization is to repair the SLTB buses (Except engines) at a low cost yet under high standard and add to the public service. The organization carries out its tasks with the objective of granting its fullest contribution towards repairing SLTB bus bodies. Vehicles brought into the workshop as a chassis are converted, in a short span of time, into a vehicle with imported condition. The organization possesses all required facilities to produce such an output.

Further, the busses manufactured in 1970 and 1980 decades are refurbished to the shape more similar to the currently imported buses. The buses so repaired by the company are delivered under warranty and could be engaged in the public transportation service for more than 05 years.

Preliminary steps are already initiated to undertake repairs of the damaged vehicles of the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation which is also a Government organization, by which the target is to attract the public money into the organization restricting its flow into the private garages.  Meanwhile, the vehicles belonged to Katubedda Ceylon German Technical Training Institute are also undertaken for repairs under concessionary basis. All these activities enable the Company to produce trained workers for the country need.

In addition to the repairing of bus bodies the organization manufactures the seats, seat cushion covers and cushion for buses, manufacture spare nuts, and paint the completed buses. Similarly, the organization possesses the ability to distribute the serviced vehicles even under high demanding conditions.

Mission

To repair the damaged buses belonged to the Sri Lanka Transport Board as well as to the individual operators under concessionary basis yet in high standard enabling to add them to the passenger service.

Publishing a new railway time table...(2017.02.20))

Publishing the new railway time table, prepared according to the new times compiled by the Department of Railways, was taken place in the morning on 20.02.2017 at the auditorium of the Ministry of the Transport and Civil Aviation.

There, the General Manager of Railways stated that actions will be taken to distribute the new time table to Main railway stations enabling to purchase by the General Public from next month onwards as requested by the Ministers.

The first printed copy of the new time table was handed over to the Minister Mr. Nimal Siripala De Silva by the General Manager of Railways Mr. B.A.P.Ariyarathna. Additional Secretaries of the Ministry Mr. Thilakarathna Bandara, Mr. R.M. Rathnayake and Railway Operations Superintendent Mr. Vijaya Samarasinghe also participated in this occasion.

Assistance of Indonesia for development of transport service in Sri Lanka...(2017.02.23)

Indonesian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. A .M. Facheer stated that Government of Indonesia will extend its’ fullest support for the future development work in Sri Lanka and will assist to uplift the railway service in Sri Lanka in due course.

Deputy Minister discovered this information at the Ministers’ Office in the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation on 23.02.2017 at a meeting with Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva.

Secretary of the Ministry Mr. Nihal Somaweera and a group of officials of the Indonesian embassy were also participated in this occasion.

300 Teller machines to railway stations for the railway passengers...(2017.02.27)

Signing of Memorandum of Understanding to commence fixing of 300 Peoples Bank teller machines at 100 main railway stations, with the intention of facilitating the daily banking transactions of railway passengers, was taken place at the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation on 27.02.2017 under the patronage of Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva.

General Manager of Railways Mr. B.A.P. Ariyarathna, Chief Executive Officer and General Manager Mr. N. Wasantha Kumar and officials of the Ministry and Peoples Bank participated in this occasion.

International Trade Aviation Services at Rathmalana Airport

Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation says that International Trade Aviation Services are to be commenced at the Rathmalana Airport.

Preliminary discussions on the commencement of services concerned was held on 07.03.2017 at the Rathmalana Airport Premises between Mr. Nimal Siripala De Silva - Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation and Mr. Musa Sammer – Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation Of Maldives.

Ms. Sahiya Sareer – Maldives Ambassador in Sri Lanka, Mr. Abdul Haris – Managing Director of Maldives International Airlines,  Mr. Ahamed Abraham - Chief of Aircraft Operations of Maldives International Airlines , Mr. Saman Ediriweera – Chairman of Airport and Aviation (Sri Lanka) Limited and Mr. Yohan Jayaratne – Executive Director of  Airport and Aviation (Sri Lanka) Limited also took part in the discussions.

Driver Training Instructors Are Required for Esatblising Driving Schools...

Minister Nimal Siripala De Silva said that producing technically and practically knowledgeable high quality drivers with the help of trained and licensed instructors is his expectation. The Minister expressed these views at the Annual Meeting of Sri Lanka  Driving School Owner’s Association held at the BMICH on 08.03.2017.

This occasion was graced by a large number of people including the Deputy Minister – Mr Ashok Abesinghe and Commissioner of Motor Traffic –  Mr. Jagath Chandrasiri.

Bandaranayake International Airport was declared opened...(2017.04.06)

Bandaranayake International Airport (BIA) that was closed for about three months for overlaying of runway during day time was declared opened for operations by Hon. Nimal Siripala De Silva -  Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation on 06.04.2017.

This project was conducted by Kethik Company of China under the consultancy of  National Aero Technology International Company of Netherland at a cost Rs. 7.2 billion.

This occasion was graced by a large number of dignitaries including Hon. Ashok Abesinghe – Deputy Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Officers of such Ministry, Ministers and Diplomats.
